Pissed Off!

I don't know why I can't just be happy with how far I have come. 1 lb is great especially since I didn't workout everyday that I planned last week. I just can't be happy with it though. I was losing so easily before. Now I feel like I have to really try hard for every freaking pound! I didn't get a lap band to diet the 150lbs off! I know it's not the easy way out. It still is going to take work. It just annoys me that all the work I put in and I see so little reward.
It's so frustrating! Why can't I lose like at the beginning? I look at everyone on blogger that lost 100lbs in there first year. I want that to be me. I am trying to have that be me.
Everyone says that I am doing so good. 62 lbs is allot of weight, and I agree. but I am so hard on myself that I just can't be happy with what I have accomplished so far. This feels like so many other things in my life that have started off so great and I have failed in the end. (even though I know I haven't failed this. just today I feel so defeated)
I was so excited when I saw the 286. the scale even flickered to 285 this morning. After weighing myself 3 times it was a solid 287.
Why do I do this to myself?

  1. Hang in there! 62 lbs is amazing! I was banded a month ago and last night I was upset because even though you do lose it seems like all the stages between your start and your goal still aren't good enough because you are not where you want to be (if that makes any sense).....

  2. You might hit 100 lbs by 1 year, you haven't even had your band 8 months yet. Just breathe, and refocus! Go back to basics and you'll be pleased with the results.

  3. Not everyone hits 100lbs out the first year. I sure didn't. I'm almost two years out and though I have hit 100lbs lost I still struggle every single day. *Hugs* Sometimes when I feel like my progress isn't as good as everyone else in blogland, I take a break from reading blogs because it really does bum me out.

  4. You are on target to lose at least 100 lbs. in the first year. Your only 7+ months out! Don't get too frustrated. I lost 100 lbs. in about 10 months, and I can recall two weigh ins during that time when I only lost .2 lbs. I'm sure there were several that were right around a pound.

And if you don't hit the 100 lbs. target in the first year, so what? You'll still be a lot less than you were when you started! 1-2 lbs. per week is the recommended rate of loss. Losing any faster means you're less likely to keep it off and you may also have more loose skin.

  5. And here I was thinking - I would be so geeked if I could loose 63 lbs (like you) in 7 months ! Take it easy on yourself ...

  6. I think at times like this, when we're feeling so frustrated, it's important to remember where you came from. For instance, when was the last time you lost 63 pounds in 7 months? You're doing great! Don't get discouraged!

  7. You really are doing great! Elizabeth's right, we won't be happy until we're at goal anyway, no matter how fast we lose. And you are right on track to lose 100 in a year anyway!

Also, some weeks are big and others aren't so big. I had a couple small weeks in a row too. And I've had my band for only 3 months. So I look to you for advice. :)

  8. I have it on great authority that you will kick the ass out of that 100lb mark (great authority being my looney self)! Maybe in a year, maybe not. Just keep your focus and remember this is a marathon...Just keep jumping over those hurdles and everything will work out!
